I know how you feel. Having to adapt to new surroundings all over again, meeting new people, making new friends, these are the things that teenagers want to avoid because we have to get out of our comfort zone and show the world that we exist, that we matter. Now that you are in a whole new world, you need to realize that you can't depend on other people. This is a place where you think about your own future, career, and success. Think about what you want to do for the rest of your life, think about your dreams and your ability. Remember, if you do what you love, then you wouldn't have to work for the rest of your life.
1. Making New Friends. Friends are important. Some people may think that college is a serious business and they will not be able to have fun because they need to focus and only focus on school works, assignments, their careers. However, I think of it differently. Yes, I said we gotta do everything by ourselves and cannot depend on others, but that doesn't mean that we don't need friends. The key to balance your life is a good management. Find friends who share the same interests as you, who will bring you up, and help you recognize your own ability because your surroundings influence the way you live. Join lots of activities and organizations that suit you best. From there you'll meet new people, find new interests, and learn new things. Make as many friends as possible! Friends lead to connections, connections lead to business partners and job availabilities. You'll never know when you need them.
Have fun and live your life while you still can, but don't forget the reasons you go to college in the first place. Balance everything out and cherish every moment because nothing lasts forever.
2. Be Organized. Being organized is important not only for college assignments but also in your daily basis. When you are organized and have all your schedules written down in an agenda, you will remember what you gotta do today or tomorrow or the day after. Organization is very crucial especially for us, students. Tidy up your room and put everything in its place so your room will be the perfect room to study. I bet you won't be able to focus if you find rubbish everywhere or you can't find your pen because you forget where you put it. Being organized isn't only about tidying up your bedroom, but also keeping track on your daily activities, and try to be on schedule. Make a to-do-list on what has to be done one week from today so you won't forget about these goals. Another thing that you have to put in mind when it comes to organizations is do not procrastinate! Teenagers tend to procrastinate a lot and think that it is okay to stall some assignments. BUT this will become a bad habit that will follow you for the rest of your life.
3. Love Your Body. What I mean by "Love Your Body" is eat healthy and exercise! A lot of college girls complain about their weights and how fast it is to gain weight when you just get into college. Ever heard of Freshman 15? Freshman 15 is a common expression used by Americans and Canadians for girls who gain approximately 15 pounds during their first year in college. Freshman 15 usually happens because of the amount of alcohol that get into your systems has increased, also because of the lack of sleep that will lead to overeating. I know college is busy and your schedule is full and this and that. But we still need to exercise and watch what we eat. It doesn't have to be a full two or three hours at the gym every week. Try drink a lot of water (8 glasses a day), eat fruits as your snacks, do cardio in your free time, and the most important part is do not consume too much alcohol. Being healthy won't just make you feel physically good about yourself, but it will also make you feel emotionally relaxed. Not only that, there are a lot of benefits of healthy eating such as maintains your healthy weight, increases your energy level, and increases your immune system. If you won't take care of your body, who else will?
LOVE,
